Low Sodium Soup Stock Recipe
Did you know the average American consistently consumes around 3,300 milligrams of sodium per day?That’s 1000 milligrams more than the recommended level. Diets high in sodium have negative impacts on health by driving up blood pressure which, as the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health notes, has also been linked to cardiovascular illness. Enter my low sodium soup stock recipe.
A similar pattern is seen in saturated fat consumption. A study published in Food Surveys Research Group Dietary Data Briefs found that only one third of American adults consumed the recommended amount of sodium.
Make a savory vegetable stock and save time when making a soup of any size without all of the sodium.
The Solution
Our hope is that this content will enable some people to identify store-bought soups and soup stock as a sneaky contributor to their high sodium and saturated fat intake.
Low Sodium Soup Stock Recipe
Ingredients:
- Vegetable scraps (frozen)
- 1 tbsp Date molasses
- 40 oz Spring water
- 1/2 tsp Crush Foster Caribbean
- 1 tsp Sea Salt
- 1 bundle Thyme
- 1 tbsp Sea Moss gel
Use my soup stock hack and save money while reducing sodium and preservatives in your diet and increasing nourishing food like vegetable soups.
Directions:
- Add the scraps to a hot pot
- Add seasonings and saute
- Add spring water and stir
- Bring to a boil then lower
- Add Thyme bundle
- Simmer for 30 mins
- Turn off heat and allow cool
- Strain and store in glass
- Refrigerate for 8 days
- Use the stock for a quick soup anytime. It can also be the base for a number of sauces, marinades, dressing and dips. (See next addition)
