Walnut Banana Nutriment
I was shocked to learn that chemo patients are given drinks that contain, dairy, sugar, caffeine and gastrointestinal disruptions at hospitals across the US. So I made my own version called the Walnut Banana Nutriment.
I remember going to the corner store as a youth and grabbing what I thought was a healthy meal supplement drink. It never occurred to me that they always contained dairy, yet were never refrigerated. (hmm) Nonetheless my family and I were used to having these drinks in our lives. Everything from Milo, Horlicks, Ovaltine, Suppligen and Nutriement. Yikes!
Ingredients like Maltodextrin, Xanthan Gum, Canola Oil, sugar and Caffeine can be devastating to someone dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, digestive challenges or cancer.
The Challenge
The full spectrum of daily essential minerals is hard to get through the foods we eat. You’d need to calculate and monitor every bite, all the time, and tally your score at the end of each day.

A Better Option
Here’s one of my favorite meal replacement beverages, either as milk or a smoothie.
Walnut Banana Nutriment
- ½ cup Walnuts
- ¼ cup Avocado
- ¼ cup Sweet Burro Banana
- 2 Medjool Dates (pitted) or sweetened to taste
- ½ tsp Celtic Sea Salt
- 32 oz Alkanatur Water or Coconut Water
- 1 pinch Clove Powder
- 1 pinch Cinnamon
- 2 drops alcohol free Vanilla
Almond Cow: Process all ingredients in the Almond Cow and serve.
Blender: Add ingredients to blender, blend, strain and enjoy.
Tip: Frozen avocado is an option as well as Sweet Burro Banana kept frozen.
